Covid-19, Cancellations, and Online Services

To the Oyen Evangelical Missionary Church family,

Grace and peace to you through our Lord Jesus Christ. May he provide you with strength and comfort in this time of unrest.

I am afraid this is yet another email concerning the Covid-19 virus. My inbox is already full of them; I bet you are as tired as I am with the whole affair. Be that as it may, I need to inform you of our church’s response to the outbreak.

First, all live services, meetings, Bible studies, etc. are cancelled until the end of March. Unfortunately, this includes Seven Mile Story. Hopefully we can reschedule when this blows over. At that time, the board and I will evaluate our situation and make a call on whether or not to resume our services and studies in person.

Second, we will be live streaming the adult Sunday School class and the sermon on Sunday mornings at 10:20 am and 10:50 am respectively on the OEMC Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/oyenemc/) for as long as we are not doing services in person. If you miss these times, you will still be able to watch these videos at a later date. This format will allow you to post comments. If you post them during the live stream, I may be able to respond to them in real time!

Third, we want to continue to pray for one another, but we also need to be careful to respect one another’s privacy. Instead of posting requests to Facebook, please pass along prayer requests through the prayer chain or through our email (oyenemc@gmail.com).

Fourth, I want to encourage you to keep in touch with one another. Our shut-ins will feel even more isolated than usual during this time as regularly scheduled services and Bible studies have been cancelled. A phone call to check in will reflect the love of Christ to others.

Fifth, please do not hesitate to contact me through email (brad@bradbroadhead.com) or a phone call (403-664-8396) with any concerns or questions you may have; it’s a large part of what I’m here for!

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with all of you” (2 Thess 3:16).
